History

Mr. Peter Leffe attended Indiana Institute of Technology for five years graduating with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Metallurgy. Upon graduation he was employed as an Associate Engineer/Scientist by McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation at their Long Beach, California facility. During this time McDonnell Douglas Mr. Leffe worked on the design and development of the DC-10 passenger transport aircraft. He was initially assigned to the design engineering services group doing primary design work on wing structures. He was later assigned to the acoustics research group, which was involved in a joint program with Boeing Aircraft Corporation to develop noise abatement methodologies.

Mr. Leffe became a member of the Farallones Design Institute of Berkeley, California where he engaged in research of inflatable structures and other alternative structural designs until he was accepted into the Master of Architectural program at the University of California at Berkeley. While at Berkeley he served as a teaching assistant specialized in the area of structural design analysis. He received the American Institute of Architects Waid Scholarship and was appointed and Institute Scholar of the American Institute of Architects.

Mr. Leffe served his apprenticeship in architecture and subsequently achieved National Counsel of Architectural Registration Board Certification and State Licensure.

Mr. Leffe has been a pilot for more than thirty-five years and holds an Airline Transport Rating. He has been active in both experimental and war bird aviation. Holding a FAA Repairman's Certificate he completed the rebuilding of an experimental aircraft for the Experimental Aircraft Association convention at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. His aircraft received the award for Best of Type. He has been involved with most forms of aircraft construction including aluminum, composite and wood/fabric. Mr. Leffe has flown many types of general aviation aircraft and full motion simulators for the Boeing 747 and the Navy F-18 Hornet. He applied and was accepted into the NASA astronaut candidate pool for flight status for which he is still under consideration.

Mr. Leffe has taken his unique blend of education in engineering and architecture and applied this knowledge to the investigation of aviation accidents. His architect's eye can manipulate objects in space making him one of the best Reconstructionists available.
