INTERNATIONAL LAW ON THE INTERNET

     The international legal sites on the web are generally easy to navigate and search. The problem that appears with these sites is the rising number. There are numerous sites from current events, and law listings, to lawyer listings, and government information sites. 

    It is also important to note the conflicts of language barriers. Most countries try to produce equivalent English, French or German documents. Many times links give warning if there is not an English equivalent. Sometimes you may have to hunt for a translation button. Other times you may come to a screen and find yourself staring at strange words that aren't the result of your caffeine buzz. Overall, it's fairly easy for speakers of English, just be prepared.

     Below is a starting point to introduce you to the greater world and the many possibilities offered by international law.

Information is listed by subjects, countries, and
tittles of documents. A long informative list that
unfortunately does not have a search option.

Court of Justice for the United Nations. Texts of
judgements, advisory opinions and orders. All are in
English and French (the official languages of the court).

Legal Information Institute, Cornell
Separates national laws for individual countries by region
from law for the international community as a whole. Many links.

Jurweb
Find the sources by continental region and link to

One of the most informative sites for the international community.
Listings are by country and take the viewer to a map and give brief background information about the country. Also available is a list of constitutions, government sites and other documents provided by or
about the country. For extra interest click on 'World Elections' to learn
about the polls of individual countries. Many possibilities for exploration.

UN Commission on International Trade Law
English, French and Spanish are the main languages for texts
about laws by a subject search. Enactments, preparatory
documents, and links to UN and trade topics are also listed.

International Trade Law with search of past articles and
