Qualifications

Dr. Schenk is a chemist who has over 45 years of academic, industrial and governmental experience.  He has taught general, analytical, biochemical and organic chemistry at the college level.  Also he has worked at governmental, academic and private research laboratories; so he has an exceptional breadth of understanding of chemistry and chemical technology.

Dr. Schenk has used his knowledge of chemistry to provide solutions to problems in a number or research areas.  In the 1980s he was the initiator and major developer of an alternative road deicer.  He studied the effects of this and other deicers on concrete, asphalt, rebars and other roadway components.

He has performed studies on identification of components of complex chemical mixtures, identified contaminants in fuels, studied oxidative, UV and microbial deterioration of products.  He has selected or developed and supervised analytical methodology for numerous projects performed for clients.

He has done laboratory work and subsequently testified as an expert witness in several court cases involving gas explosions, chemistry related damages and chemical toxicology.  He has studied chelate extraction of heavy metals and aluminum from tissues and industrial waste waters.

Over the past 25 years he has been involved as a consultant in over 1,200 cases involving alleged intoxication and intoxicated use of a motor vehicle (DWI).  He has testified as an expert witness in over 250 of these cases in nine states.  Problems with breath testing instruments are frequently a major aspect of his testimony.  He also testifies concerning the physiological effects of alcohol on people.  He routinely constructs blood alcohol curves to estimate blood alcohol levels during and following alcohol consumption.

Dr. Schenk is also a licensed real estate broker and a member of the Wisconsin Realtors' Association, and manages six rental properties.
